The customer, a Dutch manufacturing company, was using an obsolete chain type that could no longer be replaced or repaired with spare parts. Extremely costly downtime due to chain breakage was not unthinkable. A drastic rebuild of the elevator resulting in decommissioning was not an option at all.Geha Laverman was asked to come up with a solution and it came!
In collaboration with HEKO specialists, a forged chain type was chosen, with almost identical installation dimensions, but with greatly improved properties. A chain forged from high-quality hardened material.
In order to minimise downtime during assembly, the entire chain overhaul was prefabricated on detail, with precisely fitting chain running rings manufactured for the existing wheel hubs. In addition, the elevator buckets were also renewed.
Thanks to the deployment of KoWey specialists on site at the production facility, the time for assembling chain, buckets and wheels, aligning and restarting the elevator was reduced to a few days.
