A compliment Geha Laverman and its partner Pralltec received from Pouw, GWW supplier in Utrecht, following a successful commissioning of a new rotor. The replacement of the rotor resulted from an inspection carried out by Pralltec, in which the existing rotor was deemed unreliable to the extent that the continuity of the crushing process was at stake.Downtime of the - literally - beating heart of the crusher plant and thus of the company has serious consequences. Doubts about the health of such a 'heart' can in fact only be removed by replacing it, and in this case that was particularly urgent.
During the inspection, it was already clear that the current rotor configuration could be much improved, especially in terms of wear and power. It would therefore not stop at just a replacement.
Crucial to the operation was the time factor. Our client had devised a particularly tight schedule for this. Essentially, the job had to be done over a weekend.
Pouw delivered the rotor to Pralltec in Lengerich, Germany, on Friday. Upon arrival, dismantling was started immediately. Afterwards, the previously overhauled shaft together with the rotor pulley was transferred to the new rotor. New bearings were fitted. The balancing process, which is so decisive for the rotor's service life and efficiency, was started . Pralltec has not only the specialist equipment and but also enormous process know-how in this field.
On Saturday afternoon, the new heart left the workshop and was returned to Utrecht early Monday morning. The same day it was already beating - or rather running - 'like a lightning bolt', Pouw said.
Geha Laverman found a highly competent partner in Pralltec many years ago. This cooperation has since led to numerous overhauls of crushers and rotors. But engineering and new construction have also been taken care of.
At Pouw, imperfections came to light that would inevitably have led to bad, problematic consequences. In cooperation with the customer, Geha Laverman/Pralltec arrived at a quick solution even before a problem had arisen. Additional benefit: the complete crusher configuration runs more efficiently than in the past.
